How do I know if my phone is compatible with an eSIM?

Two things matter: your phone needs eSIM hardware, and it must be carrier-unlocked. Most flagship phones from 2019 onward tick both boxes.

Check for eSIM hardware

  • iPhone: Settings → General → About — look for an EID number.
  • Android: Settings → About phone → look for an EID, or Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
  • Our supported-devices guide lists confirmed models if you'd rather not dig through settings.

Make sure it's unlocked

Carrier-locked phones can't add a third-party eSIM. If you bought the phone outright or finished your contract, it's typically unlocked — your carrier can confirm.
