How do I check if my iOS device supports eSIM?

Almost every recent iPhone and cellular iPad supports eSIM. You can confirm in under a minute right from Settings, without installing anything.

For iPhone

  • Open Settings → General → About and scroll to Available SIM or Digital SIM.
  • If you see an EID number listed, your iPhone has eSIM hardware.
  • You can also go to Settings → Cellular and look for an “Add eSIM” option.
  • Every iPhone XR, XS, and newer supports eSIM (iPhone models sold in mainland China are the exception).

For iPad

  • Open Settings → Cellular Data and look for “Add a New Plan”.
  • Or check Settings → General → About for an EID entry.
  • iPad Pro, Air, and mini from 2018 onward with cellular support eSIM.

Your device also needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or have finished a carrier contract, it's almost certainly unlocked.
