When should I buy my eSIM, and does it activate right away?

Buy early, activate on arrival
Most Roamjoy plans stay dormant after purchase. The validity window only starts once the eSIM connects to a supported network at your destination — so an early purchase never eats into your data.
What happens the moment you land
- Turn on data roaming for the Roamjoy line (this uses your plan, not your home carrier).
- The eSIM registers on a local partner network, usually within a minute or two.
- Your validity window begins from that first successful connection.
A few plans are activation-on-purchase — that's always stated clearly on the plan page before you check out.
